Tell us about yourself
Saviour Mifsud is a Maltese self taught photographer based in the Faroe Islands. His work consists primarily of landscape, fine art, lifestyle and adventure photography. Saviour has been living on the Faroe Islands since 2006 but his passion for photography really began in 2013 after he purchased a DSLR camera and started exploring the islands he now call home.
Why do you travel and photograph your journeys?
Because I want to inspire people to see the countries I visit from my point of view.
What is your favourite thing or item to photograph
The landscape of the Faroe Islands.
What’s your go-to travel hack?
I invested in a good hiking clothes, shoes and backpack for my gear.
Got any gear you can’t travel without?
Extra SD cards, extra batteries for my camera and a micro fiber cloth to clean the lenses.
What destination are you eager to go back to?
Iceland
How do you stay safe when you’re travelling?
Do research before hand of the place I am going to.
What’s the best way to experience a destination like a local?
Find a local photographer/guide of the place you want to visit and get in contact with him. I normally do this through Instagram. many people do the same when they want to visit the Faroe Islands. they contact me.
What’s your favourite word in another language?
Takk – means Thanks and all the Scandinavian countries use that word.
When and where are you next travelling?
In May, going to Denmark to explore north Jutland for a few days.
