Tell us about yourself

I’m Norbert Lepsik, a cityscape and travel photographer and content creator based in Budapest, Hungary, who’s always bringing the camera with him anywhere. Over the years I’ve been searching for a way, to find the style I like the best. My unique look is due to the use of colours and always finding the greatest perspectives. For me, this is not just a profession, but a passion, really close to my heart. My most loved theme is the urban environment, cliché photography, with milder, more passionate colours.

Why do you travel and photograph your journeys?

In the beginning, I did it mostly to have some memories which I can look back on years later. Growing up in a household where travelling and holidays were never a thing (due to financial reasons) I knew that when I’ll have the opportunity, I want to spend money on travelling and collecting memories. As I started to share these photos on social media platforms, I quickly realized that I can inspire people, not just pictures from my home city but all across Europe.

What is your favourite thing or item to photograph?

Cities and buildings in general. I’m always on the hunt to find new, unique perspectives and different ways to really highlight a building.

What’s your go-to travel hack?

In Europe the low-discount airlines offer a huge variety of destinations – so by checking their pages regularly it’s pretty easy to find great deals. Having a tripod that can fit in your backpack is another great hack, so you can create wonderful night shots even if you’re travelling for a few days.

Got any gear you can’t travel without?

A mini tripod for my phone – so until I make some shots with my camera, I can record some timelapses with my phone for social media.

What destination are you eager to go back to?

Definitely Berlin! I’m lucky to say that I’ve been there a couple of dozens of times but there’s just something in the city that makes me always travel back there. Berlin might not be someone’s favourite European city, but I think it is a destination that everybody should visit and experience what the city can offer to you!

How do you stay safe when you’re travelling?

Well let’s just say that I’m not a small guy, so usually, I don’t really need to be afraid of anything – except theft. An advanced backpack can solve this issue for me easily, so I can travel safely no matter where I go.

What’s the best way to experience a destination like a local one?

Just go with the flow. Don’t plan your day minute by minute, just let the moments take you away. Try to avoid the main sights and explore the hidden gems of the city that you are visiting.

What’s your favourite word in another language?

I don’t speak german, but there’s a sentence that you can always here at the metros in Berlin. I’ve heard it so many times and each time I hear it again, I immediately get good vibes. The sentence is something like – mind the gap between the platform and the vehicle.

When and where are you next travelling?

I have a few bookings already reserved. As I said before, frequently checking the airline’s pages, you can find great deals: I’ll visit Edinburgh for the first time, and I have some flights reserved to revisit Berlin and Barcelona.
